Art Deco Weekend

The Art Deco Weekend is held in Miami every year in the month of January. The event is sponsored by the Miami Design Preservation League. The three day events from Friday through Sunday include parade (both humans and canines), music and dance performances, film showings, tours, classic car fest, street fair, and food and drinks. Entertainment apart, the purpose of the festival is to raise awareness and appreciation of the arts and culture of the Art Deco era from 1925-1945. The Art Deco Weekend attracts thousands of visitors who come here to appreciate the first 20th century historic district of the USA, which today thanks to the efforts of the preservationists has become an integral feature of the state’s architectural and cultural legacy.

Florida State Fair

The Florida State Fair is an annual event which is held at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. This official event includes a range of fun and learning activities including indoor and outdoor exhibits, rides and shows. The festival showcases the best of Florida’s agriculture industries. Held in the month of February, the event is spread across 11 days and also includes competitions such as chocolate covered bacon. The fair traces its roots to 1904 when the South Florida Fair Association was formed. The event was later renamed the Mid-Winter Festival and in 1915, it got its present name – the Florida State Fair.

Jacksonville Jazz Festival

The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is an annual event which features renowned performances during the Memorial Day weekend and is held across several venues including Main Street, Snyder Memorial Church, Hemming Plaza, Laura St., The Jacksonville Landing, and various downtown businesses and buildings. Several events and competitions are held and while entry to some is free, events such as the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition require a ticket. Apart from musical events by international performers, the festival also includes other activities such as wine tasting, youth competitions, educational activities, and more.

SunFest

The first SunFest event was held in 1982. The event is Florida’s largest waterfront music and art festival. This annual festival is held at downtown West Palm Beach along the Intracoastal Waterway in the first week in May. The event attracts more than 200,000 visitors per annum. SunFest is funded in part by the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council through the Palm Beach County Cultural Council. Visitors can enjoy a host of activities, music, food, and traditional arts. The festival and the patrons that it attracts have a positive impact on the community.

Pensacola Beach Air Show

The Pensacola Beach Air Show is an annual event held in the months of July or August. The event is part of the action packed Red, White, and Blues Week at Pensacola Beach Florida that highlights the Navy Blue Angels. Visitors have the opportunity to see the world-famous Blues in action on Pensacola Beach. During the festival, aerial acrobatics over the Gulf of Mexico are performed by the flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels, along with civilian and other military aircraft.

Annual Biketoberfest

Biketoberfest is an annual event which is held in the beautiful Daytona Beach. The hard packed sands of the beach have made the city a mecca for motor sports and earned it the reputation of being the ‘World Centre of Racing.’ During the annual Biketoberfest, visitors can enjoy several events and activities such as racing at Daytona International Speedway, live music, scenic rides, and rallies. Top manufactures also use this opportunity to showcase their latest and greatest models. This week long festival also includes the prestigious Daytona 200 championship motorcycle racing event, which showcases the world’s best sports bike racers.

WinterFest

The WinterFest is an annual event which is held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale area in Florida. The celebrations have two aims – it provides the community an opportunity to come together and enjoy spectacular events and it also showcases Fort Lauderdale as a magnificent tourist destination. The festival is best known for its one of a kind Boat Parade. The festivities include events such as golf tournaments, the stunning Winterfest Black Tie Ball, the Shoreline Decorating Extravaganza, Grand Marshal Reception, and Winterfest White Party. The festival is a multicultural event and encourages participation from a variety of races and religions.
